Academic Excellence in Chippewa Valley Schools
At Chippewa Valley Schools, we are committed to providing a rigorous, well-rounded education that prepares every student for success in college, career, and life. From early childhood through high school, our academic programs are designed to challenge students, foster a love of learning, and support the unique needs of every learner.
Our curriculum is fully aligned with Michigan state standards and benchmarks. We take a data-informed approach to instruction, using regular assessments to guide teaching and provide timely support. Literacy is at the heart of all learning, and we ensure that students receive the tools, interventions, and strategies they need to become confident, capable readers.
We are proud to offer:
- Individualized supports for students who need extra help, including multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), special education services, and reading interventions aligned with state literacy and dyslexia laws.
- Individual Reading Improvement Plans (IRIPs) for K–3 students who need additional support in literacy development.
- A strong commitment to English Language Development for our K–12 English Learners, with the goal of English proficiency and academic success across content areas.
Our secondary schools offer extensive academic and extracurricular opportunities:
- Over 200 courses including Advanced Placement (AP) classes and dual enrollment options
- Robust Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs that connect students with real-world experience and workforce skills
- Award-winning fine arts, band, choir, and visual arts programs
- 38 student clubs and 24 athletic programs that support student engagement and leadership
We are also proud of our one-to-one technology program, which provides a personal device for every student in grades K–12. This initiative ensures equal access to digital tools and learning resources across all grade levels.
Our district’s academic leadership teams, including curriculum councils and school improvement teams, continuously evaluate and enhance instructional practices. We are honored to maintain system-wide accreditation through Cognia, reflecting our ongoing commitment to excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Beyond K–12 education, we support lifelong learning through our early childhood programs, including:
- Tuition-free Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) preschool in four elementary schools
- High-quality infant, toddler, and preschool care at Little Turtle Early Childhood Center
At Chippewa Valley, we believe in educating the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally—so that every student feels supported, challenged, and prepared for the future. We are proud of our students, staff, and families who work together to make our schools a place where excellence thrives.
