James Eldred from boys' varsity swimming has been chosen as Team Rehab's student athlete of the month for February 2025. James is a captain of the swim team. James has been swimming great in all of the meets he has participated in. More recently, he placed in the Macomb County Championship meet in the following events: 6th place 50 freestyle earning a podium medal finish, 9th place 100 breast stroke, 8th place 200 medley relay in the 50 breast stroke leg portion earning a podium medal finish, 9th place 400 freestyle relay as an anchor leg. Congratulations to James. Best of luck during the remainder of your season!

Spring sports for ALL Spring sports start on Monday, March 10th.  Participation cards can be picked up in the Athletic Office starting Monday, March 3rd.

 The Boys Big Red Basketball team will travel to Ford tonight for the district finals at 7 pm. Please come and support the Big Reds as they go for their 5th district title in the last 6 years. 

 Today is a ½ day of school, with a 10:28 dismissal.  You will attend all of your classes.

  Dakota shuttles will be running for two hour blocks only.   If you only have a one hour class at Dakota, please report to the Media Center during that time. 

As February comes to an end, I'd like to share one more quote in recognition of Black History Month. Muhammad Ali said, “Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare.” So my question for each of you, are you willing to work hard enough to achieve the impossible?

In Advisory today, you will see a video presentation about elective course offerings and have some time to review the course book and work on scheduling forms. This is in preparation for 1 on 1 meetings with counselors in March. The workshop will give general information about how to figure out future career options. Great for those if you are undecided or want more information to explore careers/programs. A college rep will be presenting. You can sign up on the CVHS Counseling group in Schoology or from the link in your advisory folder.

 If you are interested in running track this spring, there will be an informational meeting tomorrow after school in the cafeteria. If you can make the meeting, bring workout gear and stay and workout with the team. If you can't make it, see Mr. Wilson in room 207.

Congratulations to the Big Reds JV Competitive Cheer team, who took first place at Warren Woods Tower and also won the MAC Blue division for competitive Cheer, Varsity took second place for MAC Blue.

Student government and The Red Zone have partnered up and are selling cans of crush for your crush during the weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day. Stop by the school store or one of the QR codes hanging on posters around the school to send an anonymous can of crush to your crush. They are on sale now until February 10th and are $2. The crush cans will be handed out to students on February 13th.

Our Black Student Union is sponsoring a Spirit Week this week. Today's theme is, Throwback Thursday, and tomorrow is Unity Day. Seniors-Red, Juniors-green, Sophomores-yellow, and Staff-black.

There will be an Ecology Club meeting today after school in room 224.

Our Girls Basketball teams will be taking on the Utica Chieftains next Tuesday, February 11th for our Coaches vs. Cancer game.  Wear your purple shirts and come cheer our girls on to victory while supporting the American Cancer Society!

Today marks the beginning of our recognition of Black History Month. We take the opportunity of Black History Month to recognize the historical struggles and contributions of black people in the United States. We celebrate the contributions of people like Frederick Douglass, Bessie Coleman, Alice Coachman, and so many others, and also recognize contributions like The Jazz Age and the Harlem Renaissance, the Tuskegee Airmen, the Montgomery Bus Boycott, and all of the people, actions, and events that helped to shape our shared history.
